Manual dexterity is Madeline's thing. If something that has two or more parts that fit together (or that she *thinks* ought to fit together), she'll sit for as long as twenty minutes happily working with her hands. Recently she mastered putting together the sides of the chest clip on her carseat, and the harness on her booster seat. Lucky for her dad and I that she hasn't yet figured out how to undo those things!
On a related note, Madeline and I were in the car yesterday, at a four-way stop just outside of Ikea. There was a car across the intersection from me, and there was a baby in that car who was dressed in pink. The reason why I noticed was that the baby was being bounced up and down by a person who was presumably it's grandmother instead of riding in a carseat. And this was taking place in the front seat of the car! Argh!!! Double bad!!!
