The Grinch Who Stole Yogurt
This morning, Madeline and I made a rare appearance in a Wal-Mart store, to buy yogurt. You see, a few months ago, the Calgary Co-op began carrying packages of whole milk Lil' Ones yogurt from Dairyland. I tried them out, and Madeline loved them. And why not - four different flavours in a package, priced better than the Minigo (which is a cheese puree, not even yogurt!) or Petite Danon alternatives, no added sugar, etc. Then the next time I was in Co-op, all of the yogurt was gone! Never to be seen again! The store manager told me that they had a ton of trouble ordering it. I ended up buying the occasional package of Yo Baby from the organic market, even if it always tastes kind of funny to me. And costs twice what Lil' Ones does.
So imagine my surprise when I take a shortcut through the dairy section Wal-Mart to get to the craft section only to see scads of Lil' Ones yogurt on the shelf! Wal-Mart has been buying all of the yogurt!!! I am so annoyed! They're not even a real grocery store here! Do I follow my conscience and continue to avoid shopping at Wal-Mart, or do I listen to my little girl who likes that yogurt better than the other types I've given her? Bah!
Are you against Wal-Mart because it is such a large dominating chain?
I have never tried Lil' Ones, might have to give that a shot. Does it have that good bacteria in it?

It does, actually! The ingredients are on the cardboard packaging, not the individual containers. My biggest peeve about Wal-Mart is labour practices. How can they not afford to provide benefits and a full work-week to their employees?

I am going to try those yogurts, I hadn't found ones that Nikyla liked with the good bacteria in it.
Understandable about Wal-Mart.

Cool! I just double-checked the ingredient list to make sure it has the bacteria, and it does!
Gonna try to send you a proper email this week. Hopefully I'll get some more time on the computer!

Our local Safeway had the L'il Ones - twice - and I bought them both times. Haven't seen them since, unfortunately. They seemed to be so much better than others, because they're sweetened with fruit juice and not sugar (I can't believe how much sugar is in kid's stuff). I'll have to check out Walmart next time I'm there!
