Stoves are dangerous weapons

I'm simmering a chicken carcass today to make into a lovely chicken soup with carrots, mushrooms, and hopefully barley. The pot had been on the stove for about forty-five minutes and I was kind of concerned that it hadn't started to boil yet. I didn't realize that I had the wrong burner on until I went to move the pot-lid that was covering the burner that I turned on instead and burned the thumb and forefinger on my left hand! Argh!!! This is the second time I've been burned because I turned on the wrong burner!
