linen envy
A few months ago, one of my friends, who travels as part of her job, mentioned in an email that she takes photographs of some of the better-decorated hotel rooms that she has stayed in. Joking, I emailed back asking if that means that her condo looked like a hotel. She replied that she hasn't gone that far yet, but she was inspired to buy a set of nice-quality linens for her bed.
Ah. I can related to that. Last week I took the flannel sheets off our our own bed and put on the so-soft 100% cotton ones that we had put away for the winter. I can't remember what their thread-count is exactly, but they're so lovely that it's hard not to lie around in them for an extra ten minutes every morning. Maybe it's silly, but each time we stay in a nice hotel, I look forward to discovering what the sheets are like. One of these days, I want to sew a satin-y duvet cover for our bed, too, like the ones at the Union Bank Inn. If I could only arrange for someone to clean my bedroom every day and provide Chris with unlimited wake-up calls ...
