The Carnivore in the Laundry Room

One day a few weeks ago, I noticed that the shirt that Chris was wearing was really chewed up around hem.  Neither of us knew where on earth the holes came from, but it certainly looked like more than regular wear-and-tear. Then a few days ago, one of our flannel sheets came out of the washing machine with similar wounds, and I began to put two and two together.  The sheet had gotten caught underneath the agitator in the washer, and now I suspect that it was trapped there for much of the wash cycle, perhaps being twisted over a bolt or some other protusion repeatly, creating the holes.

This expedited our plans to replace the washing machine - it's an ancient Kenmore that came with the house.  I'm kind of excited about *maybe* upgrading to a front-load washer, but rather uncomfortable with how much more expensive they are!

Front Loader maybe more expensive but the pay back is faster then you might thing. You use less water, and less detergent, much less in fact. You might want to look into a combo machine that washes and dries all behind the same door. There are may options out there now so look around before you buy as long as you can limp along with the monster machine that is now taking bites out of shirts and sheets.

I dream of having an indoor washing machine one day. I have to shlep a few blocks from the apt. to do so:)

I hear you! Our last apartment had ensuite laundry and it was divine :) No rummaging for coins or tokens or having to wait for a machine! I hope that the laundry fairy visits you soon, Ani!

That's a neat idea about a combo machine. I must admit that I have a bit of a crush on the dryer with the drying cabinet - that's something that we could really use. But I also like to think that we can be patient enough to air-dry our own clothes on a $5 rack.

We have the Kenmore front loader Washer and Dryer from Sears. http://www1.sears.ca/webapp/commerce/command/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=1&lng=E&cgrpfnbr=150&prrfnbr=162806552
I absolutly love them. So far you won't get anything but positive feedback from me. Oh and my parents have them too.

I have the sears front loader linked above. Who knew I could have such strong feelings for an appliance? I also have the matching dryer and stacked, they open up half our laundry closet for storage. If there is Sears Appliance Outlet near you, look there first. That's where I got mine for something like $700 less than retail, and the only things wrong were a few scuffs.
