Dining in Style
Daily Candy today is featuring these fabulous neoprene wine carriers. I really like the snazzy colours that they come in, and it's rather nice that each accomodates two bottles as Chris likes to bring a red and a white to dinner parties. Sad that there isn't anywhere in Canada to pick one of these up ...
Last night for dinner I made the sauted sweet potato and spinach side dish from November's EveryDay Food, except that I substituted broccoli for the spinach because that's what I had on hand. It was very yummy and easy - brown cubed sweet potatoes in some olive oil, after about ten minutes sprinkle with curry powder, add some onions and a 1/2 cup of water a few minutes later, and transfer to a separate dish when the water's absorbed. Saute the broccoli, and when it's done, add it to the sweet potatoes and then sprinkle a tablespoon of balsamic (I used rice wine) vinegar over the entire lot. Both Chris and I gave it a thumbs up.

I love this site! I stumbled upon it (don't think you can actually "stumble" onto the internet) - but you know what I mean. I was actually searching for a "skor shortbread" recipe and happen to go to your site. Now... I don't see this recipe anywhere on your site but I did read that you do make these cookies. Would you care to share this recipe? I have now saved your site into "My Favorites". Kim

Hey Kim,
Laura pulled a fast one on you (-;
You can find reference to Skor Shortbread here http://www3.telus.net/~cblake1/going_domestic/May03.htm. The Skor shortbread recipe that I used (yes, I'm THE Ada of Skor Shortbread and Choc. Beet Brownie "fame") was a Chatelaine Dec 2003 recipe which I can't seem to find on line.
Happy surfing and happy baking!

Ah! I lied! Here you go Kim (helps to actually hit the "search" button):

The real background on this is I have an egg allergy which I try to embrace with recipe-versatility rather than work-arounds. Who am I kidding with that statement?!
Happy baking (for real this time)

Is that how you did it? I had imagined that you bought the Skor Chips, like these http://www.chipits.ca/EN/products/index.asp
Thank you, Ada. I'm going to have to bake some myself now ...

The REAL trick is to keep the Skor bars hidden from the choclate monster in our house. I hid them in the freezer for a while. That helps the choc. stay choclity when you break the bars!

Hey Laura...
I bet I could sew one of those Wine bags. Have you ever seen wet suit material at the fabric store? I think that black pleather would look cool. (silver studs). mmmmmmmm
