I surreptitiously maintain Going Domestic from an air-conditioned apartment in the suburbs of Bangkok. I moved to BKK from Calgary, Alberta, Canada in August 2007, with my husband and my young daughter (who has a starring role over at Mommapalooza). Thank goodness we all like Thai cuisine ...
I've never lived abroad before, though we did stay in St. John's, Newfoundland from February 2006 - March 2007. Loved it. Except for shoveling our driveway when it was covered by three feet of snow.
I packed up my sewing machines, my fabric, my yarn, and my vast collection of Emile Henry bakeware. They all came to Bangkok with me. I think it may be too hot to wear woollen garments or turn on the oven to bake a batch of lemon squares, but I just might do it all anyway :)
